Very unique location on Edisto Island in gated Cowpens. Home has a front view of marsh and Edingsville Beach with a back view of private swimming pool and covered creek dock, situated on a tidal creek. There is a short half mile walk or bike ride to a very private Edingsville Beach which is known for its numerous shells, fossils and shark teeth. The area reminds me of how beach communities used to be before over-development. Edingsville Beach is two miles long from Jeremy Inlet to Frampton Inlet, which preserve its privacy, the only other access is through a private gate or by kayaking to the backside of the beach. You can find broken china and artifacts on the beach which are remnants of the areas rich history. There used to be a village of homes used by the area plantation owners in the 1800s. The Village of Edingsville (nicknamed "The Bay") was wiped off the map in the late 1800s by several hurricanes. English brick and broken china still wash ashore. (The living room fireplace is built out of old English Brick found on the beach) NO parties, weddings or receptions allowed on premise!!!! And please note, access through the gate to the beach is pedestrian only. No vehicle or golf cart access. Only a short 15 minute drive to Edisto Beach for golf, restaurants, marina, shopping and a State Park. Charleston is approx 60 minute drive and historic Beaufort is about 90 minute drive from the house. This property is on a tidal creek and not appropriate for any boat larger than a Jon Boat.
